What does the FTC accessiBe action establish?

The FTC approved a final order in April 2025 requiring accessiBe to pay $1 million to resolve allegations about unsupported or deceptive accessibility claims and other conduct.

The action concerns the conduct described in the complaint and order. It does not establish that every widget is unlawful or replace a technical evaluation of your website.

What still needs manual testing?

Keyboard journeys, screen reader behavior, form recovery, dialog states, and the meaning of content need testing within a defined sample. A clean automated result is not the same as a completed manual evaluation.

Where BCT loses

BCT provides a sampled practical review. It does not certify full WCAG conformance or implement remediation. For a specialist conformance engagement, review an accessibility audit provider and agree on its methodology.
